This reverts commit 242c3966 (add_custom_command: Diagnose
MAIN_DEPENDENCY limitation, 2015-03-09) and the follow up commit
b372a99a (UseSWIG: Do not use MAIN_DEPENDENCY on custom commands,
2015-03-26).
I misdiagnosed the underlying issue that prompted creation of policy CMP0057.
The actual issue surfaces when a single custom command's MAIN_DEPENDENCY
is listed in more than one target; this issue will have to be addressed
independently.
The documentation of this variable in the CTest module is outdated
and has been superseded by the ctest(1) manual. In particular, the
latter mentions that it works with the Ninja generator as well as
makefile generators. Remove the documentation from the CTest module
and replace it with a link to the main variable documentation (which
already references the ctest(1) manual).
Fix the logic added by commit v3.0.0-rc5~9^2
(InstallRequiredSystemLibraries: MBCS MFC is optional on VS 12,
2014-05-06). Do not test content of MSVC${v}_MFC_DIR until after the
variable is set.
Use file(GENERATE) to write the logging wrapper scripts to evaluate
generator expressions. Use a per-config script names in case the
content varies by configuration.

Green Hills MULTI is an IDE for embedded real-time systems. The IDE's

It supports cross compiling on ARM, Intel x86, and other architectures
with various operating systems. The IDE exists on Linux and Windows
host systems, but CMake will currently only generate the project files
on Windows host systems.
Refactoring of content list that removes
use of find and sed to make listing algorithm
more clear and remove external dependencies.
Patch also limits man pages handling to
locations listed in brp-compress rpm script
by default - fixes bug report #14660.
The UPPERCASE name was inconsistent with config-packages, the
find_dependency macro, and even FPHSA itself, which expects
components to be specified with names matching ExactCase.
The FOUND_VAR was only permitted to have two possible values, and
now both are set for compatibility. Document it as obsolete, and
adjust the code for the same. Users of the variable should just
remove it.
When SWIG_GET_EXTRA_OUTPUT_FILES checks to see if a source file exists
for use in reading the module name, it must pass an absolute path to
the if(EXISTS) command. Teach SWIG_ADD_SOURCE_TO_MODULE to give it
the absolute path it already knows.
I was previously appending to nvcc_flags inside the file loop. This
caused the flag to be appended multiple times which freaks out nvcc.
Now the flag is specifically handled per file.
A previously undocumented feature allowed overriding the format
specified to CUDA_WRAP_SRCS with a source file property called
CUDA_SOURCE_PROPERTY_FORMAT. I added documentation for this feature as
well as added the ability to let nvcc compile any file regardless of
type if this property was found.
In addition, I also fixed a couple of bugs with the calls to
_cuda_get_important_host_flags that weren't garding the arguments with
"" to prevent empty values from causing errors.
If the host flags contain a c++11 flag (at least for gcc), then we can't
automatically propagate to nvcc it using -Xcompiler. This is because
nvcc can't use any C++ only flags. Instead we find this flag and add it
to nvcc's flags (it has a special flag for dealing with c++11 code) and
remove it from the host flags.

VS 2013 originally claimed to support initializer lists but a bug was
found in which it generated bad code silently. For this reason we
previously considered support to not be present. However, Update 3 adds
a hard error on cases that previously generated bad code, so it is now
safe to use initializer lists with VS 2013 Update 3 or greater. At
worst a compiler error will be issued in the cases that do not work, but
that is no different from any other compiler-specific workaround a
project code may need.
Beginning in CUDA 5.5 a static version of the cuda runtime library
became available. Since nvcc defaults to using this library over the
shared version, FindCUDA will also default to using this version. There
are many advantages to using the static version (most importantly to
avoid conflicts with multiple versions when building a CUDA based
library). Offer a CUDA_USE_STATIC_CUDA_RUNTIME option to control
this behavior.
RPM packages can contain symbolic links to relative paths - including
support for multiple relocation paths through generation of post install
relocation scripts. Add basic support with limitations described in
documentation.
Add the dependency on the main swig input source file as a normal
DEPENDS option. We cannot use MAIN_DEPENDENCY because if there are
multiple target languages then multiple custom commands would want to
use the same MAIN_DEPENDENCY, but at most one custom command may specify
a given source file as its MAIN_DEPENDENCY. Exposed by a CMP0057
warning.
Extend the ``DATA{Dir/,...}`` syntax with a new ``RECURSE:`` option
to enable recursive matching of associated files. This will allow
an entire directory tree of data to be referenced at once.
Extend the _ExternalData_arg_find_files signature with an option to
specify the kind of file(GLOB) operation to be performed. Set
CMP0009 to NEW so that GLOB_RECURSE does not follow symlinks.
Teach the Xcode generator that ONLY_ACTIVE_ARCH=YES means to use ARCHS,
and that the default of ONLY_ACTIVE_ARCH=NO means to use NATIVE_ARCH and
ignore ARCHS. In the latter case there is no reason to generate ARCHS.
The `binary_dir` variable is never set, so this is invalid. Instead, use
"." which all the other build commands use anyways. Also only set the
--config option if it is meaningful.
The compiler documents that USE statements search for ".mod" files
in directories specified with -I, but not -isystem.

Replace an old hack of the form 'if("${VAR}" MATCHES "^${VAR}$")'
with the much simpler 'if(NOT DEFINED ${VAR})'. This was exposed
by a CMP0054 warning.
The Xcode 5 platform specific framework locations differ from the Xcode
6 ones. Look first for the Xcode 6 ones, then for iOS Xcode 5 ones and
last for the Xcode 5 OS X ones.

The PGI compilers on Linux do not have the -fPIE flag. Remove the table
entry added by commit v2.8.9~125^2~2 (Add platform variables for
position independent code flags, 2012-05-05), which likely included it
only as part of a sweeping introduction of such flags.
Since commit v2.8.11~63^2 (UseJava.cmake: require explicit request to
include jars, 2013-03-26) the argument parsing always overrides the
variable settings even if the corresponding arguments are not passed.
Re-order logic to fix this.
Fixes mantis bug report with id 15169. Some
component specific attributes were leaking
to next component. Leakage handling was
implemented in different locations but there
were still attributes that leaked. Patch
encapsulates generator into function so all
current leaks are fixed and no future leaks
can occur.
Implement a brand new FindMatlab module:
- Add support for versions and components.
- Find Matlab and its version in a more precise and multiplatform way.
- Add API to create a new mex extension with documentation.
- Add API to add matlab unit tests (with or without the unit test framework).
- Find as much as possible based on a single Matlab_ROOT_DIR cache entry
and allow the user to change it to re-find everything.
Protect against variables named "CSHARP", "PERL", "PYTHON", or "UNKNOWN"
when CMP0054 is not set to NEW.

Previously the module did not support projects using installation
components because install(PROGRAMS) was never called with COMPONENT.
Add an option to specify the COMPONENT so that projects doing this do
not have to resort to using CMAKE_INSTALL_SYSTEM_RUNTIME_LIBS_SKIP and
writing the install rule by hand.
In commit 3ec02547 (CPackRPM: Allow multiple path relocation prefixes
for one package, 2015-01-21) a regression was introduced that causes
parent directories of relocation paths to be incorrectly included in
the rpm. Fix this and make the test case more strict to cover it.
In Platform/Windows-MSVC the C and CXX flags are initialized to
contain preprocessor definitions describing the platform. On
WinCE platforms this may not be just -DWIN32. This information
may be important to RC sources too, so add such preprocessor
definitions to the default RC flags.

The RC language is special in that it is automatically enabled
on Windows-based platforms when another primary language is
enabled. Move enablement of RC from early in the enablement
of the other language to late. This will allow it to use
information detected as part of enabling C, CXX, or Fortran.

Allow URL templates to contain a %(algo:<key>) placeholder that is
replaced by mapping the canonical hash algorithm name through a map
defined by the <key>.
Extend the Module.ExternalData test to cover the behavior.

Refactor the Check*CompilerFlag modules to pass the flags to
Check*SourceCompiles using CMAKE_REQUIRED_FLAGS instead of
CMAKE_REQUIRED_DEFINITIONS. Both end up being used, but the variable
for "FLAGS" is more precise.
The change in commit v2.8.12~218^2 (CPackRPM protect '@' character in
filename processed in the spec file, 2013-07-05) was not necessary after
commit v2.8.12~439^2 (Add support for componentized USER spec file,
2013-04-01). The latter replaced ${VAR} references in the spec file
template string with \@VAR\@ references, thus protecting '@' symbols
automatically. This caused CPackRPM to break paths with @ symbols.
Revert the change to fix the behavior, and add a test case.
Otherwise find_library is unable to lookup the XCTest framework which
is not located in the SDK serach path:

CPACK_RPM_<component>_PACKAGE_ARCHITECTURE variable allows
the same project to support packages of different architectures
including noarch, native and foreign architectures.
BuildArch must only be added to a spec file for a "noarch" package or
rpmbuild will fail. For all others, the --target argument sets the
package architecture. In the process of Fixing rpm architecture, we
make it mandatory, adding a default value of native architecture (the
same as if no --target argument is present). Update the documentation
at the top of the file to make it mandatory.
Clang Static Analyzer is so smart that it reports a defect when this
intended null-deref is encountered. Use sizeof instead which has no
runtime effects.
This check was first added by commit v3.0.0-rc5~6^2 (FindCurses: Detect
and satisfy ncurses dependency on tinfo, 2014-01-17), but it is not
correctly conditioned on existence of the tinfo library and fails if the
code path is taken but tinfo is not found. However, since commit
v3.2.0-rc1~369^2 (FindCurses: Drop search for deprecated HP-UX cur_colr
library, 2014-11-17) the result of the check is not used, so simply drop
it.
Since jsoncpp 0.7.0 (2014-11-20) the upstream may provide a CMake
package configuration file such that find_package(jsoncpp) will find a
jsoncppConfig.cmake file. In order to avoid conflicting with this
(especially on case-insensitive filesystems), and since we always prefer
projects to provide package config files (that they maintain), it is
better to not provide FindJsonCpp publicly.
Move FindJsonCpp into a private source directory that is not installed
so that we can still use it for building CMake itself.

Fortran does not offer syntax to compose a string literal at
preprocessing time from numeric compuations. Instead encode each digit
of each component as a separate INFO string and compose them in CMake
code after extraction. Support MAJOR, MINOR, PATCH, and TWEAK
components with up to 8 digits each.
When matching implicit library names, use a sentinel "x" to avoid
ever expanding the library name as a variable. This was detected
by a CMP0054 warning.
The project has moved from <http://www.coin3d.org/> to
<https://bitbucket.org/Coin3D/coin/wiki/Home>. Simply drop the
out-dated link. Few find modules have links to the project sites.
Anyone looking to use a given find module likely already knows about the
project it finds and can use a search engine to find its homepage.

This bug caused c_function_prototypes to not be recorded at configure
time when compiling with -std=gnu99 or similar. In the case of feature
recording, that was not a problem, because the logic in
CMakeDetermineCompileFeatures.cmake currently assumes that a feature
present for an earlier standard is present for a later standard.
However, the detection strings are also used in WriteCompilerDetectionHeader,
so the feature macro has been defined to '0' when using a later language
dialect.
Fix that by not checking the existence of the __STDC_VERSION__ macro at
all when detecting C90 features.
If no compiler feature information is known for a given compiler
version, do not set a language standard default either. The two
settings must be recorded consistently.
When targeting Windows with a 64-bit architecture, use "$PROGRAMFILES64"
to get the Program Files folder. Use CMAKE_SIZEOF_VOID_P to check for
the architecture size instead of CMAKE_CL_64 because the latter is not
defined for all compilers.

Initialize CMAKE_SHARED_LINKER_FLAGS_RELWITHDEBINFO_INIT from the value

When loading the list of target support directories, read the file
with UTF-8 encoding since that is what CMake writes into the file.
This allows us to support international characters in the path to
the build tree containing the target support directories.
Add a GCOV_OPTIONS option to allow specification of custom flags. In
ctest_coverage gcov support, if you set CTEST_COVERAGE_EXTRA_FLAGS, they
get put on the command line before the -o. In this case we remove the
-b and replace it with GCOV_OPTIONS. All other arguments remain the
same.
The "cmakexbuild" wrapper is not needed for Xcode 4 and above, and the
path to it may change when CMake moves. Avoid storing a specific path
to a build program in CMakeCache.txt and instead compute the value for
CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM on demand. However, if a user does set the value
explicitly then honor it.
This does for Xcode what commit v3.0.0-rc1~260^2~4 (VS: Switch to
internal CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM lookup by generators, 2013-11-15) did for
Visual Studio generators.
This will make them use the 'console' pool with the Ninja generator.
Impacted targets are:
- Built-in targets: install, install/local, install/strip, tests,
package, package_source, rebuild_cache
- Targets provided by the CTestTargets module: Nightly, Continuous,
Experimental,
and all their variants (*Start, *Configure, ...)
Within an existing build tree, if the stamp for a step already exists
when one activates the ALWAYS option, we still want it to always build.
Remove the step stamp file during CMake configuration to ensure it does

In case the given version was not only "3" or "4", but something like "4.8"

The macro is defined to 1 for GNU 4.6, and such a test is only
useful for features in language dialects newer than the
default (CXX98 for GNU currently).
Test only that it has a truthy value.
As this is not elseif(), the content has no effect.
Rather than changing it to an elseif(), remove the conditional content.
All versions of GNU prior to 5.0 default to C90/89.
Clang-C.cmake has a similar code block which correctly uses
elseif() for setting the default C dialect to C99. That may have
been updated from a C90 default at some point, so leave the
version condition there in place for now.
GNU-CXX already has complex logic and sets the _result to 0 before
tests which may set it to something else.
Change the other modules to be consistent with that.
Add support for a special URL template to map the fetch operation
to a project-specified .cmake script insead of using file(DOWNLOAD).

The compiler in the PATH on mac is a stub for a different delegate
depending on the environment. Rather than requiring xcode-select to
change the used Xcode globally, users should be able to choose the
compiler per-session. That is possible with the DEVELOPER_DIR
environment variable.
However, the environment can change between running CMake and invoking
the build. In such cases, CMake prefers to record the relevant paths
from the environment and use them when invoking the build. That is not
currently done for the compilers on APPLE, so the compiler used is not
the one reported when running cmake:

In commit v3.1.0-rc1~113^2 (Use a more reliable regex for extracting
binary INFO strings, 2014-09-03) the matching of INFO: strings was made
more strict and no longer matches just "INFO:qnxnto". Use
"INFO:qnxnto[]" instead to conform to the new pattern.
When installing, MSMPI puts a trailing backslash in the MSMPI_BIN
environment variable. This causes trouble when concatenating in CMake
since the list separator is now escaped and no longer a list separator
due to the trailing backslash. Instead, use file(TO_CMAKE_PATH) to make
the path CMake-friendly.
The approach in commit v3.1.0-rc1~1^2 (Xcode: Fix compiler id detection
when code signing is required, 2014-10-22) still requires a code signing
key when targeting a real device. Instead set CODE_SIGNING_REQUIRED to
"NO" to tell Xcode not to sign at all. Drop the corresponding setting
of the code signing identity.
Since commit v2.8.8~173^2 (FindRuby: clean up querying variables from
Ruby, 2012-02-17) we query RbConfig::CONFIG first and, if the command
fails or its output equates to a false constant, then fall back to
querying Config::CONFIG.
Due to the above, an error condition exists with Ruby 2.2.0; when
querying RbConfig::CONFIG['TEENY'], the output of '0' will be discarded
since it matches the false constant '0'.
In previous versions this wasn't a problem, but Ruby 2.2 has completely
removed Config::CONFIG. This causes RUBY_VERSION_PATCH to be set to an
empty string and the Ruby version to be detected as '2.2.' (instead of
'2.2.0').
Fix the output check to explicitly look for an empty string before using
the fallback query method. (Someone more familiar with Ruby might be
able to deem the fallback as unnecessary and fully remove it.)

Notes:
VS2015 and above are the only MSVC versions to support cxx_final, so remove
usages from the tests, and instead only test for cxx_override.
VS2012 and above to conform to cxx_decltype_incomplete_return_types
proposal, but without support for auto return types the dcl.type.simple
example in the proposal doesn't compile.
VS2013 and above to conform to the updated cxx_contextual_conversions proposal,
but VS2010 and above pass the test.
Compilers such as MSVC have no explicit flags to enable C++11 mode,
it just is always on. So only run the link tests with compilers that require
a flag to specify the language version.
Initializer lists are only properly supported in 2015 and above.
Previous Visual Studio releases said they supported initializer lists
but silently produced bad code.
CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR is not guaranteed to be defined (per
http://www.cmake.org/Wiki/CMake_Cross_Compiling), and when cross
compiling where it happens to be undefined, this module was broken.

Previously only the CMAKE_{C,CXX}_FLAGS_<CONFIG> flags were inspected
for relevant flags when compiling the intermediate link file. We need
to also consider the configuration agnostic flags, CMAKE_{C,CXX}_FLAGS
as well.
AppleClang does not support the cxx_thread_local feature, even
though it is based on a Clang version which does support the
feature.

A possible reason for that is that thread_local might be used as
a variable in existing Apple SDK headers.
Extend the WriteCompilerDetectionHeader module to generate a define
for that feature with portability fallbacks. For the avoidance of
making it easy to write code which looks correct but which has odd
runtime behavior, don't set the define symbol at all if no
equivalent keyword is known.
The SunPro Fortran compiler uses "-F" instead of "-E" to request
preprocessing. The output does not go to stdout so use "-o" to
specify the output file.
This fixes the guess originally made by commit b6b37e30 (Makefile: Add
assembly and preprocessed targets for Fortran, 2014-11-05).

Fix capitalization of Qt4_FOUND variable when setting it to false in
this case. This caused find_package(Qt4) to appear successful when it
was not. Note that the legacy QT4_FOUND variable is unconditionally
overwritten at the end of the file with the value of Qt4_FOUND.
If this option is enabled, the test step is created with the
EXCLUDE_FROM_MAIN option, and if TEST_BEFORE_INSTALL is enabled, the
install step does not depend on the test step.
This means that the test step is never executed, unless the test target
is explicitly created by calling ExternalProject_Add_StepTarget, or by
passing it with the STEP_TARGETS option, or with the EP_STEP_TARGETS
directory property.
The FindXerces module was added in commit v3.1.0-rc1~155^2 (FindXerces:
New module to find Apache Xerces-C++, 2014-08-17). However, there are
two implementations of Xerces, one in C++:

Rename FindXerces to FindXercesC to clarify that it is about the C++

When compiling the ABI detection test project, do not override
CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS completely. The normally selected value of this
variable may influence how the link is done and may be needed to be
representative of how the calling project will be built. Instead pass a
variable that try_compile will reference as additional flags. Leave
this behavior of try_compile undocumented for now.
Revert the feature added by commit v3.1.0-rc1~420^2~2 (FindOpenGL:
Provide imported targets for GL and GLU, 2014-05-31). Unfortunately it
does not work on Windows because the full path to each library file is
not actually known. The IMPORTED_LOCATION of an imported target must be
a full path, but OPENGL_gl_LIBRARY is just 'opengl32' on Windows because
the actual library file is in some implicit link directory that we may
know know.
More infrastructure will be needed in CMake to allow a name-only
imported library. Until that exists, we will not be able to provide
imported targets in FindOpenGL.
In commit v3.1.0-rc1~640^2~5 (Clean up usage of if(... MATCHES regex)
followed string(REGEX REPLACE regex), 2014-04-06) we accidentally broke
logging of the implicit library detection. Restore use of the
intermediate 'lib' variable so that the log message is constructed
properly.

In commit 079e8469ab (... OpenGL always needs X11 on Unix, 2002-09-05)
the FindOpenGL module was taught to search for X11 as a dependency of
the OpenGL library. This was done without a detailed explanation, and
the dependency should not be explicitly needed because OpenGL headers
should not expose applications to X11 APIs directly.
Unfortunately the only way to know if anything legitimately depends on
this behavior (perhaps in static library cases) is to simply remove it
and wait for issues to be reported. If so, then we can add some kind of
compatibility setting for this later. Add a release note to draw
attention to this change.

Some applications only need the OpenSSL crypto library and want to avoid
linking against the SSL library. Set OPENSSL_CRYPTO_LIBRARY and
OPENSSL_SSL_LIBRARY in the code paths that do not need to find them
separately, and document them publicly. This allows applications to be
more specific when linking against OpenSSL.

These all test the same variable for different values, so only one of them can
ever be true. This also allows to completely remove one variable that only
flagged if one of the conditions matched.
The __STDC_VERSION__ macro may be defined or not depending on the
implementation dialect of C. Test that it is defined before testing
its value.
The CXX tests do not need such a change because they define __cplusplus
in all dialects.
Extend the write_compiler_detection_header interface to allow
specifying a location for supplementary files, and getting the
list of resulting files as a variable.
Clang 3.4 uses C99 by default, and Clang 3.6 uses C11 by default:

Since commit b22e2de8 (HPUX support, 2001-11-05) the FindCurses
module searches for a 'cur_colr' library, but that is not needed
anymore. AFAICT, the cur_colr package was introduced in HP-UX 10.00 and
marked as deprecated in 10.30 by X/OPEN curses (which replaced the even
older HP curses in 10.10).
In order to use cur_colr after 10.10 you should use the
/usr/include/curses_colr when compiling. Since FindCurses doesn't even
search that path the headers cannot possibly match out of the box. If
users want cur_colr they can set the cache entries by hand.
There is no 64-bit version of cur_colr in 11.11PA and it will be gone
completely in 11.31PA:

It is simplest to drop cur_colr support from FindCurses since it was
only partially implemented anyway.
The external project's build process may generate byproducts on which
other rules in the driving project's build later depend. Provide a way
for the driving project to specify what byproducts it expects to be made
available by the custom commands that drive the external project.

Features are currently recorded accidentally for all versions of
AppleClang > 3.4 (I have no idea how that relates to upstream
Clang). Presumably that version has the features which are
accidentally recorded, but in the future features will be
recorded initially for only AppleClang >= 5.1, which would
appear as a feature regression.
Commit v3.1.0-rc1~635^2~11 (Don't load Clang-CXX from
AppleClang-CXX., 2013-11-11) ajusted the logic for the CXX
language. Make a similar change for the C language.
Add support for Sun/Uniforum/GNU gettext libintl. This belongs in CMake
rather than upstream because:
* There are multiple upstreams (Sun, GNU).
* It may or may not be in the glibc C library depending
upon the platform and build options used.
Although we already have a FindGettext module, that is for the tools.
This module is for the library, and is independent because it's
perfectly OK to use libintl without the gettext tools (and vice versa),
and they might not all be found. Add cross references between the two
modules in notes to make the relationship clearer.
The change in commit v3.1.0-rc1~85^2 (ExternalProject: Fix download
retry logic, 2014-09-13) dropped the file(DOWNLOAD) EXPECTED_HASH
argument. This prevents file(DOWNLOAD) from skipping the download if
the output file already exists with the proper hash. Restore this check
with explicit code in the download script.

Since commit v3.1.0-rc1~1^2~1 (Xcode: Fix compiler id detection for iOS
tools, 2014-10-22) our compiler id detection project sets the product
type to 'com.apple.product-type.bundle.unit-test'. This causes the Ld
command line on which we match the path to the compiler to have a
'CompilerIdC.xctest/' component. The commit updated our regex to match
this, but placed it before the extra './' component that Xcode 5.0 and
below produce. Xcode <= 5.0 prints '/./CompilerIdC.xctest/', so switch
the order of the two components in the regex to match it.
If UPDATE_DISCONNECTED is set, the update step is not executed
automatically when building the main target. The update step can still
be added as a step target and called manually. This is useful if you
want to allow to build the project when you are disconnected from the
network (you might still need the network for the download step).
This is disabled by default.
The directory property EP_UPDATE_DISCONNECTED can be used to change
the default value for all the external projects in the current
directory and its subdirectories.
Some generators (i.e. Xcode) will not generate a file level target if
no command is set, and therefore the dependencies on this target will
be broken.
This patch sets an empty echo command that does nothing to avoid this
issue.
The ExternalProject_Add_StepDependencies function add some dependencies
for some external project step.
The syntax is:
ExternalProject_Add_Step_Dependencies(<name> <step> [target1 [target2 [...]]])
This function takes care to set both target and file level dependencies,
and will ensure that parallel builds will not break.
It should be used instead of add_dependencies() when adding a dependency
for some of the step targets generated by ExternalProject. See also:

When adding step targets using ExternalProject_Add_StepTargets, the
STEP_TARGETS argument or the EP_STEP_TARGETS property, ExternalProject
sets all the dependencies for the main project to that target. Due to
this, the update target cannot be used without downloading and building
all the dependencies.
In order to be able to add step targets that do not depend on other
external projects, this patch adds:
* An optional "NO_DEPENDS" argument to the
ExternalProject_Add_StepTargets function. If this argument is set,
then no dependencies are set for the target (file dependencies will
still be set).
* A new argument INDEPENDENT_STEP_TARGETS to the ExternalProject_Add
function and a new directory property EP_INDEPENDENT_STEP_TARGETS that
behave like STEP_TARGETS and EP_STEP_TARGETS, but cause the
ExternalProject_Add_StepTargets to be called with the NO_DEPENDS
argument.

There is no way to set the symbol file name of a target, so it is better

When using CMAKE_FIND_ROOT_PATH, FindBoost is able to find the first
component and cache the full path of the directory in Boost_LIBRARY_DIR
so that all components are looked for in same directory. The issue was
that, when looking for the other components, Boost_LIBRARY_DIR was
re-rooted against CMAKE_FIND_ROOT_PATH even though it was already a path
on the host. This change fixes this by disabling the re-rooting in the
find_library call when using Boost_LIBRARY_DIR as a hint.

These variables can be dereferenced by if() alone so do not do it here, avoiding
the risk of their content being treated as a variable name and dereferenced
again.
Get dependencies from the output of ``rcc --list`` if using
Qt 5. Otherwise process the file in the same way as the
qt4_add_resources macro.
This does not work for RCC files which are generated.
The cmake_autogen build step is implemented as a PRE_BUILD step
of the target currently if possible, rather than a standalone
custom target. This is to keep the number of (synthesized)
custom targets that appear in the UI low, but in some cases

Convert several preformatted code block literals that enumerate lists of
options or variables to use reST definition lists instead. Manually
wrap other long lines in code blocks.
The iOS product type 'com.apple.package-type.bundle.unit-test' requires
code signing on Xcode 6. Other iOS target types do too. Until CMake
learns to add the CODE_SIGN_IDENTITY build attribute itself, toolchain
files can set CMAKE_XCODE_ATTRIBUTE_CODE_SIGN_IDENTITY to tell the Xcode
generator to add the attribute. Teach CMakeDetermineCompilerId to
recognize this variable and add the CODE_SIGN_IDENTITY build attribute
to the compiler id project.
Since commit 0cce556b (Xcode: Use sysroot and deployment target to
identify compiler, 2014-04-29) our compiler id detection project uses
the target platform SDK in case Xcode selects a different compiler based
on it. Now the compiler id project actually compiles with the target
compiler and SDK when cross-compiling.
The iOS tools do not support the 'com.apple.product-type.tool' product
type we use in our compiler id detection project. When targeting
iPhone, use product type 'com.apple.product-type.bundle.unit-test'
instead.
This restores Qt SDK 4.8 and OS X >= 10.6.5 codesign compatibility

The condition to use ";" as classpath separator includes a check for the
switch "WIN32" which is a target switch. When cross-compiling for a
non-windows target, this switch is not present and the separator
defaults to ":". It should check for "CMAKE_HOST_WIN32" instead.

This is done by gathering LC_RPATH commands for main bundle executable and
using it for @rpath lookup in dependent frameworks.
All functions that need to carry rpaths to now take optional <rpaths> argument.
This enabled apps using @rpath to be bundled correctly, which will be necessary
for upcoming Qt 5.4 that will use @rpath for all frameworks.
Check that install_name_tool has -delete_rpath before using it.
Otherwise it will fail with Xcode 3.x on 10.5 which has no -delete_rpath
option for install_name_tool command, that was first introduced in 10.6
SDK, even that 10.5 supports LC_RPATH and @rpath.
It makes whole executable process quicker on UNIX, especially for large bundles
containing many files, since using find narrows results to only files having
executable flags then all further tests follow.
Since find ... -perm +0111 is not clearly POSIX compliant and some Linux
versions refuse it, it is better to use longer but portable:

with '-l' automatically, so teach the generator not to do so.

Teach CMakeDetermineCompilerId to recognize the Tegra-Android platform
and generate a test project for Nsight Tegra tools. Locate the full
path to CMAKE_<LANG>_COMPILER by computing it within the test project
build environment.
Also teach CMakeFindBinUtils that this variant of the Visual Studio
generator uses UNIX-like instead of MS-like archiving and linking tools.
When testing CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER_ID values with if(MATCHES),
do not explicitly dereference or quote CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER_ID.
We want if() to auto-dereference the variable and not its value.
After updating from Protocol Buffers 2.5.0 to 2.6.0 compilation of the
generated source failed: "This file was generated by an older version of
protoc which is incompatible with your Protocol Buffer headers. Please
regenerate this file with a newer version of protoc.".
Turns out the source and headers generated by way of
FindProtobuf.cmake:PROTOBUF_GENERATE_CPP aren't updated. Adding a
dependency on the compiler executable fixes this issue.
Fix the CMP0054 warning:
CMake Warning (dev) at .../Modules/ExternalProject.cmake:242 (if):
Policy CMP0054 is not set: Only interpret if() arguments as variables or
keywords when unquoted. Run "cmake --help-policy CMP0054" for policy
details. Use the cmake_policy command to set the policy and suppress this
warning.
Quoted keywords like "COMMAND" will no longer be interpreted as keywords
when the policy is set to NEW. Since the policy is not set the OLD
behavior will be used.

Do not check file's hash in download script. If hash will not match
command ``file(DOWNLOAD ...)`` will fail with FATAL_ERROR, ``cmake -P``
will exit with unsuccessful code, and the build will stop. Leave hash
checking to the existing implementation in the verify step.
Legacy invocations may pass a variable name where "DEFAULT_MSG" belongs.
When comparing FPHSA_FAIL_MESSAGE to "DEFAULT_MSG", use a leading "x" on
both sides to avoid mistaking the value of the message for a variable
name.
When the loop was added by commit v3.0.0-rc1~103^2~3 (ExternalProject:
Reattempt download when verification fails, 2015-01-15), we forgot to
actually increment the loop counter. Add the increment line.
When the CMAKE_GENERATOR option is given to ExternalProject_Add, look
also for option CMAKE_GENERATOR_PLATFORM to pass on to cmake as a cache
definition. When no CMAKE_GENERATOR option is given explicitly then use
the current project's CMAKE_GENERATOR_PLATFORM (since we already use its
CMAKE_GENERATOR).
Since commit v3.0.0-rc1~342^2~2 (Add compiler target compile options,
2013-05-19) we use CMAKE_<LANG>_COMPILER_TARGET as the binutils prefix
when cross-compiling with Clang. Fix the implementation to use the
compiler target as the prefix only when it is set. Otherwise toolchain
files not using CMAKE_<LANG>_COMPILER_TARGET cause the logic to use
a prefix of just "-" and of course cannot find "-ar" or "-ld".
FindGTK2 was adding optional include directories to the
interface include dirs regardless of whether or not they
existed. This ensures that the directories only get added
if they are actually found. This is particularly a problem
on Solaris where the gtk2 libs and headers might exist but
the FreeType2 headers might not.
A few different regular expressions were being used in various
places to extract info strings from binaries. This uses a
consistent regex amongst all of them now. This also fixes the
broken ABI detection for Cray compilers.
Some platforms, Fedora 20 and RHEL 7 in particular, will have multiple
pg_config_${arch}.h files all included by the top level pg_config.h.
This checks all of the available pg_config*.h headers for version
information.

In commit v2.8.0~395 (Implicit link info for C, CXX, and Fortran,
2009-07-23) we added a '-DCMAKE_${lang}_STANDARD_LIBRARIES=' flag to the
try_compile used to build the ABI detection project. It is needed when
detecting the implicit libraries added by the GNU compiler on Windows
(MinGW tools) to avoid contaminating the list with standard Windows
libraries. However, with MSVC we do not detect such implicit link
libraries anyway, and for some target platforms (e.g. Windows Phone) we
may need the standard libraries to link the ABI detection executable.
Drop the flag when detecting the ABI using MSVC.
- autodetects Ice on all major platforms
- allows building with all supported Visual Studio versions on Windows
- autodetects the slice path on most platforms
- separately detects the Ice programs, headers, slice files and
libraries so that any Ice configuration or installation errors can
be accurately reported, making diagnosis of Ice problems simpler

The cleanup in commit 4f2fcce4 (Check*: Allow result variables to
contain regex special characters, 2014-07-31) broke old VXL code that
abuses the old "if(MATCHES)" implementation by using
SET( ${VARIABLE} ${VARIABLE} )
to reset a check result variable. Add a compatibility hack to the
CheckFunctionExists, CheckIncludeFileCXX, and CheckSymbolExists modules
to re-run their checks when the result variable is set to its own name.
Use STREQUAL instead of MATCHES so that special characters still work.
CPack IFW generator updates:
- Group now can have script;
- Root package (for monolithic or one package installers) can be
configured from group.
CMake updates:
- Native installation (no Unspecified component).

We already use MPI_HOME and ENV{MPI_HOME} as hints for the location
of the MPI compilers. Do the same for mpiexec, and then use the
location of mpiexec as a hint to find the compilers.
The Fujitsu C/C++ compilers are the default ones for K computer.
Detect both native and cross compilers by looking for the __FUJITSU
preprocessor definition.
Split the monolithic cmCPackIFWGenerator source into three parts:
cmCPackIFWGenerator, cmCPackIFWInstaller, and cmCPackIFWPackage
to isolate the implementations somewhat.
Add a COMMON option to the cpack_ifw_configure_component command to make
the data component common to its parent group.
Change the default packaging method to ONE_PACKAGE_PER_COMPONENT.
This is not incompatible because the CPack IFW generator has not
yet been in a release.
This option instructs configure_package_config_file to consider paths
that are not absolute as relative to the INSTALL_PREFIX directory
instead of relative to the CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX directory.
If this argument is not passed, the default behaviour is to use
the CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX variable.
The new signature is therefore:
configure_package_config_file(<input> <output> INSTALL_DESTINATION <path>
[PATH_VARS <var1> <var2> ... <varN>]

Let clients do their own research on the current strength of each
hash algorithm to choose what is best for their needs.
